A wonderful piece of antique Scottish advertising pottery featuring the iconic James Keiller & Sons Dundee Marmalade transfer-printed mark. This cream-glazed stoneware crock displays an ornate black wreath design surrounding the maker’s name, with additional text referencing the Grand Medal of Merit, Vienna 1873, and the Great Prize Medal for Marmalade, London 1862.

James Keiller & Sons of Dundee, Scotland, became renowned for their famous Dundee marmalade, making their advertising ceramics particularly appealing to collectors of British food history and antique advertising.

Dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, this cylindrical crock features a rolled rim, warm cream glaze, and beautiful all-over crazing that reflects its age. The aged patina, discoloration, and historic advertising design give it wonderful character.

Condition: Significant age-related crazing, staining, and discoloration throughout, with visible cracks in the ceramic, including a prominent crack running down the side and into the interior. Please examine all photographs carefully.

A fantastic display piece for a traditional kitchen, pantry, or collection of antique British advertising pottery.
